Legal Land Description
Parkland Natural Region

"Watchable Wildlife" site (fascinating variety of waterfowl); from the comfort of their campsites, visitors can watch the graceful flight of geese on their late summer migration south; in the campground, undergrowth provides protection from wind, while large trees create a cool, shady picnic area; open year-round, snow conditions permitting (access/internal roads not plowed); limited facilities & services provided September 16 to May 14.

Buffalo Lake, with its many shallow bays, provides nesting sites for great blue herons, black-crowned night-herons, Canada geese, ducks, common terns, American avocets and ring-billed gulls; Ross' geese, American white pelicans & piping plovers may also be seen; other species include northern orioles, western wood-pewee, great horned & short-eared owls, and golden & bald eagles.
