Legal Land Description
Boreal Forest Natural Region

Miquelon Lake Provincial Park is located in the dry mixedwood sub-region of the Boreal Forest Natural Region, at the south end of the Cooking Lake Moraine (also known as the Beaver Hills). The park is dominated by trembling aspen, balsam poplar and white spruce forests and contains numerous kettle ponds and wetlands.
Firewood is no longer provided at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park; park visitors can either bring their own wood or purchase it at the store located near the park entrance ($9.00/bundle). Note: low water levels have necessitated closure of boat launching facilities for power boats; a hand launch is available for canoes and other small water craft.

  • Important Bird Area - two gull species breed at Miquelon Lake in significant numbers - California gulls & ring-billed gulls; during the spring & fall migration, ducks congregate regularly on the lake; shorebirds also use the lake during migration, including sanderlings & red-necked phalaropes; songbird species include rose-breasted grosbeaks, northern orioles, western wood pewees, ovenbirds & yellow warblers.
