This tree-lined park is a welcome relief on blistering hot prairie days; many well-treed sites provide privacy. An interpretive trail provides visitors with the opportunity to view the area's abundant bird species. Kinbrook is an excellent location from which to base day trips to Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is only 45 minutes away by car.

Note: 100% of Kinbrook's campsites are available for reservation from May 1 until Labour Day (Sept. 7/09), with the exception of the May long weekend (May 15 to 17), when only 80% of campsites can be reserved.

  • Kinbrook Island Provincial park is located within the "Lake Newell & Kitsim Reservoir Important Bird Area"; species include American white pelican, ring-billed gull, California gull, double-crested cormorant, Caspian tern, eared grebe, great blue heron & common tern; marsh areas provide habitat for ducks, coots, rails, bitterns & geese.

Kinbrook Marsh
This trail parallels a large marsh complex where a variety of wetland plants & animals may be seen; several viewpoints along the route, including an observation tower equipped with spotting scope; hard-packed gravel and natural grass surface; on hot days, trail users should wear suncreen & hats, and carry plenty of water.
